Cosmo Out Front at New Jersey Motorsports Park

(Millville, NJ) 11 May 2009— With a full time business managing and overseeing track-day events and a growing roster of racers that he works with as driver coach, Guy Cosmo is one busy guy away from the track.

And looking at his schedule in last weekend’s Verizon Wireless 250 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Cosmo is also a busy guy at the track as well as he was in action in both the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race on Sunday as well as playing a ‘SuperSub’ role in the KONI Sports Car Challenge event on Saturday.

The main focus for Cosmo entering the weekend was his race outing with Spirit of Daytona Racing, as he returned to the cockpit of the familiar No. 09 Coyote-Porsche V8 with co-driver Scott Russell after just one week between the race at VIR and the New Jersey Motorsports Park event.

Continued progress on the machine saw Cosmo wrangling everything he could out of the machine to score 6th on the grid with a fast lap time of 1:15.615-seconds. As the race dawned, the word was “rain,” and with a car that’s shown well in low-grip conditions like Mid-Ohio’s rain race last season, hopes were high.

Those hopes proved to be well-placed as Cosmo stormed to the front of the pack early in the race. After showing the AMA-liveried machine to be up to the task in the early stages, the race didn’t develop as hoped as a series of rain-induced setbacks caused extra pit stops, and that hampered the overall race pace. But Cosmo and Russell soldiered on to bring the car home 11th in class.

“It was great to get by the Ganassi car and get out front,” said Cosmo. “Obviously you always want to be leading, but today, it was great to get out in the lead just so I had a chance to see in front of me! Unfortunately though that wasn’t the case for a lot of the race and we had some things work against us so we couldn’t bring it home where we wanted to. But I’m looking forward to getting the chance to run again at Watkins Glen because I think this Coyote-Porsche V8 package will be really strong there.”

Shortly after he was finished posting a strong Rolex qualifying effort on Saturday, another opportunity popped up as Cosmo was called to co-drive with young up and coming racer Andrew Carbonell for Freedom Autosport in the KONI Challenge race. Jumping in at the last minute to race a car that had the motor in front of him for the first time in ages, Cosmo was once again promptly up to speed despite the change of scenery and machinery.

But after Carbonell had an outstanding opening stint up front, Cosmo had loads of work to do as he strapped in for the second half of the race after a long pit stop sent him back in the pack. But Cosmo made the most of what he had, and fought his way back up the order to finish 4th at the checkered flag.

“It was too bad because that car was no doubt capable of winning this race today, said Cosmo. “It's a fun challenge to jump into a strange car at the last minute and just race, and it went really well once we got the car out of the pits and on to the track. I was hoping to get back onto a KONI Challenge podium again, but it was still good to get Andrew a solid points finish and I want to thank Freedom Autosport for giving me this call.”

That schedule will get busy again next weekend, as Cosmo returns to ALMS action in the Larry Miller Dealerships event at Miller Motorsports Park. Cosmo will drive in the Challenge Class in the event with co-driver J. Baker making his ALMS debut in Porsche GT3 machinery. Cosmo will be in action both as a racer and as a coach, which should keep him busy, just like he likes to be.

Spirit of Daytona Racing Fights to the Finish at New Jersey Motorsports Park

Coyote-Porsche V8 leads early on the way to 11th place finish

(Millville, NJ) 3 May 2009 – After leading the early stages of the Verizon 250, Spirit of Daytona Racing finished the race 11th as Guy Cosmo and Scott Russell partnered in the No. 09 Spirit of Daytona Porsche V8-Coyote in round 3 of the Rolex Sports Car Series championship at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

The race was run in highly challenging conditions in the second visit to the south Jersey facility for the Rolex Series.

After he qualified 6th Cosmo was once again looking to make the most of the Coyote’s tendency to shine in low-grip conditions, and he did just that as he pounced to take the lead from the defending Rolex Champion 01 machine. The rain kept coming, and so too did a pair of yellows, so the team called Cosmo in to swap seats with Russell, which was the same formula the team employed to take a top ten last weekend at VIR.

But the rain meant that not only was there little grip and visibility on offer, but it also contributed to cockpit fogging and a part-time wiper failure, which when combined with the high speed, made for a tough day in the office for both drivers.

“Even though I’d never raced this car in the rain, I was hoping to have been faster out there than I was so that was a bit disappointing,” said Russell. “But I kept it on track and Guy did an amazing job. You couldn’t even see out there when the wiper WAS working, so for him to be out there in these conditions without it working was impressive. There is no way to prepare for these conditions-you have to just get in there and do what you can do. Now I’ve had this experience, and I know I’ll be better the next time I’m in these conditions.”

“It was tough!” said Cosmo as he emerged from the cockpit. “We had to make some extra pit stops with a wheel nut problem, which meant that at least I could get my windscreen wiped off! It was great to have the pace early on to just go out and run to the front like we did, but we had some small things just keep us back today. It was tough out there, but we kept it on the track and brought it home!”

“It was a frustrating day out there for us,” said team owner Troy Flis. “We just had a couple little things go wrong and when things are like they were out there today, that can really set you back and it did just that today. But both guys kept it on the pavement, and that was a lot harder than it sounds. My guys on the team have been working so hard, so you want to be bringing better results for all their effort. But we’re all looking forward to moving forward on the next chapter with this Coytote, and hopefully we can come out swinging next time.”

Spirit of Daytona Racing a Strong 6th in NJMP Qualifying

Looking to build on top-10 with Coyote-Porsche V8

(Millville, NJ) 2 May 2009 – Guy Cosmo qualified the No. 09 Spirit of Daytona Porsche V8-Coyote for Sunday’s Verizon 250 with a fast lap time of 1:15.615 seconds to take 6th on the grid. The result is the second consecutive top-ten start in Rolex Sports Car competition for the team, which is looking to also score a second consecutive top-ten finish after scoring 10th at VIR last Sunday.

Cosmo will start the two hour and forty-five minute race before turning the AMA-liveried Coyote off to co-driver Scott Russell.

“I was working so hard to get as much as I possibly could out if it, every single lap, so I’m happy we were able to end up top six,” said Cosmo. “With all the work the team has been putting into the car, you would love to be able to pay that back with a top three start, but we just weren’t able to find any more speed out there today. The car keeps getting better- much more stable, and that gives me and Scot both more confidence, so hopefully we can turn this top six start into something a little better at the finish.”

The team was able to use the race experience from the 2008 event as a head-start on the race weekend as the ultimate set-up was sought, but with the rain playing havoc with conditions and a slew of changes to the track, the Spirit of Daytona Racing still had a lot of options to explore this weekend.

“We keep making progress with this car and we kind of used this qualifying as another practice, just trying something new and seeing what Guy thought,” said team owner Troy Flis. “So now we’ll jus see what the track is like tomorrow. We’ve been focused on a dry weather set-up, but you still have to be ready in case it rains so we think we’ve got a good balance either way. Scott did a great job in the session before and we’ll get him in the car again tomorrow morning to give him a few more laps before the race to get warmed up and then see what happens come race time.”

The Verizon 250 will be carried LIVE on SPEED starting at 1:00 PM EST.

Spirit of Daytona Racing Gets Right Back To Rolex Series Racing At NJMP

Looking to build on top-10 with Coyote-Porsche V8 in 2008

(Daytona Beach, FL) 28 April 09 – Fresh from a top ten Rolex Sports Car Series finish last weekend at Virginia International Raceway, Spirit of Daytona Racing will look for an even better result this weekend in the Verizon 250 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Guy Cosmo and Scott Russell will once again team in the AMA-liveried Spirit of Daytona Racing No. 09 Porsche V8-powered Coyote for Sunday’s 2 hour, 45-minute race.

While last weekend’s visit to VIR was a first not only for Scott Russell in Daytona Prototype machinery, it was also the first visit to the track for Spirit of Daytona Racing with the PorscheV8-Coyote combination. But despite a challenging start to the weekend, the team ran in the top three in the early stages of the race before emerging from the Virginia countryside with a 10th place finish to build on the 11th place DP result scored in the season-opening Rolex 24.

Now, heading into this weekend’s event, the team will have their visit to the Millville, New Jersey track from last August to build from.

“We had a solid car for the race in New Jersey last year and even though we just missed getting into the top ten, we want to make up for that this weekend,” said team owner Troy Flis. “The conditions will be different from what we experienced last year, but we know how we are going to roll off the truck and have a good baseline set-up for this track. Compared to VIR, we also have an extra day for Scott to get comfortable on this track and hopefully that’s going to pay dividends for us in the race. Even though it’s a lot of work to turn the car around to be ready to go this weekend, I can tell you that everyone on this team is excited about the chance to go racing again and hopefully we can come out of New Jersey with a good strong result.”

Even though the race weekend will see motorcycle legend Scott Russell adding to his four-wheeled track resume, the Georgia resident is fresh from the behind the wheel experience he got at VIR, and looking forward to getting right back at it again this weekend in New Jersey.

“It will be the same challenge for me this weekend as it was last in terms of getting seat time and getting a good feel for the track, but it seems like New Jersey is a little more straightforward than VIR was,” said Russell. “I’m also glad that this weekend is a little longer than the two-day race at VIR because that gives me more time to go home each night and think about everything I’ve picked up that day, and then come into the track each morning with a fresh view on what I’m going to be dong in the car and be ready to go. It was tough last weekend because it was such a compressed event and we lost the first session, and were just catching up the rest of the weekend. But every time I get into the car it just gets better and better. And having Guy as a my coach is a huge help. I just want to get as many laps in as I can.”

Last year’s event, which was the first major professional event for the track, saw Cosmo and his co-driver finish eleventh, as the car’s fastest lap was within one second of the fastest lap of the race set by the winning car.

“This is great—to have a race weekend, pack up, and then get to go racing the very next weekend, so I’m really excited about getting to New Jersey,” said Cosmo. “Scott did a great job at VIR even though he was so new to the track, and now that we’re heading to a place where we have in-car footage, data, and a set up to start from, hopefully we can get off to a quicker start to the weekend. We were in the ballpark with the car last year, and even though the competition in Rolex never stops improving, this team has also learned a lot more about this car since we were here last, so hopefully that pays off.”

The Verizon 250 will be carried LIVE on SPEED starting at 1:00 PM EST.

Spirit of Daytona Racing Takes 10th at VIR with Coyote-Porsche V8

Strong form as only Coyote in the field returns to Rolex action

(Alton, VA) 25 April 09 – Guy Cosmo and Scott Russell combined to bring the No. 09 Porsche V8-powered Coyote home 10th in the Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway to take the first top ten of the Rolex Sports Car Series season for Spirit of Daytona Racing, which opened the season with a run to 11th in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Cosmo started the race from 10th on the grid, and was on the gas from the drop of the green, moving up to 7th in the early laps, into the top five and then up to 3rd by lap 25 of the two hour and forty-five minute race.

“The car was just as good in the race as it was in qualifying,” said Cosmo. “We got off to a solid start, and just went from there. It was really stable and predictable, so it was a great move forward from Daytona. We were hoping to still be in the top five at the finish, but the way the yellows fell just didn’t work out with our driver changes. But it was still a good weekend, Scott kept making progress every lap he was out there, and we just kept working on getting everything we could out of the car. And the great news is that we get to go racing again next weekend! So we can just keep at it. We were strong in New Jersey last year, so we’re going to head there to build on what we did here this weekend.”

Turning the car over to Russell, who had only previously seen the track from aboard a motorcycle, saw the AMA-liveried Coyote return to the field deep in the pack. But despite one off-course excursion, Russell kept his rapidly accelerating Daytona Prototype learning curve going has he moved up from 24th up into the top 12 before turning the machine back over to Cosmo.

“I’m still feeling like I’m in the deep end a little bit here, but it was great to get more time behind the wheel today and hopefully I can get a good start at new Jersey next weekend,” said Russell. “I had a little off and I’m disappointed for the team that it set us back some, but I’m just working on getting a feel for what the car can and can’t do. I’m really hungry for more seat time, and hopefully I can have all the guys hard work pay off with a little bit better run here soon!”

Spirit of Daytona Racing 10th in Rolex Qualifying at VIR

(Alton, VA) 24 April 09 – Guy Cosmo will start Saturday’s Bosch Engineering 250 from 10th on the Rolex Sports Car Series grid after posting a fast lap time of 1:43.483-seconds in the No. 09 Porsche V8-powered Coyote. Cosmo will start the two hour, forty-five minute race before turning the controls over to co-driver Scott Russell, who got his first laps in 4-wheeled machinery on the 3.27-mile natural terrain circuit on Friday.

The day got off to a challenging start as the first practice saw Cosmo making an off-course excursion before the only V8-Porsche in the field was dispatched back to the garage for repairs. The Spirit of Daytona Racing squad had the Coyote ready to go in time for the afternoon practice session, as Cosmo worked on making up ground on the suspension set-up before Russell strapped in to get his first laps on the track from behind the wheel of a Daytona Prototype.

“This place is cool,” enthused Russell. “It’s great to get on to a real race track like this and even though it’s my first time and I’m only just inching up on it, I have a lot to think about tonight now that I’ve been out there. I’m really looking forward to getting more laps in tomorrow before we race.”

The top-ten qualifying came as a welcome return after Friday opened without the hoped for track time in the morning.

“I hated to start the day the way we did, but they guys worked hard to get the car ready to go and it was a lot more stable in qualifying than it’d been in the morning,” said Cosmo. “I feel badly that Scott didn’t get more time in the car today, but hopefully he can keep moving his learning curve up with this track tomorrow and that we can move up once the race gets going.”

“With the problem we had in the morning, I’m pretty happy to be where we are in our first time here with the Coyote,” said Team Owner Troy Flis. “Losing the first session set us back, but we rallied to get ready for the next session so now we’ll just see what we can do tomorrow. It’s going to be a lot warmer tomorrow afternoon and this car has shown really well in those conditions in the past, so we’re going to see what kind of advantage we can take from that.”

The Bosch Engineering 250 will air on SPEED TV at 2:30 PM ET on April 25.

Utilizing the unique Porsche V8-Coyote combination, the team is looking forward to getting a fast start to the 2009 Rolex Sports Car Series season with three motorcycle champions-Scott Russell, Jason Pridmore, and Jeff Ward as well as Guy Cosmo behind the wheel.

Cosmo Featured in Pirelli Motorsport News

DANVILLE, Va. - Pirelli Motorsport and The Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 are primed and ready for a return to racing action at this Saturday's Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). The race can be seen live on SPEED at 2:30 p.m. EST.
Grand-Am race teams had a long three month break between the first two scheduled races of the 2009 season - the opening Rolex 24 at Daytona in January and this weekend's Bosch Engineering 250 at VIR. A strong field of Daytona Prototypes and GT competitors - all on Pirelli P Zero racing tires - will take to VIR's challenging 3.27-mile road course for Saturday's race, which will kick off the balance of 2009's 12-race season.

Among the competitors hoping to build on recent momentum is the No. 09 Spirit of Daytona/Porsche V8 Coyote team of sports car racing stalwart Guy Cosmo and motorcycle road racing Hall of Fame member Scott Russell. The duo were joined by Russell's fellow motorcycle champions Jeff Ward and Jason Pridmore for the Daytona opener in an AMA Pro Road Racing sponsored race car and managed to finish the grueling race despite encountering just about every type of endurance racing related problem imaginable.

"Daytona was a challenge and the Spirit of Daytona team did a great job," Cosmo said. "With the ever changing conditions of an endurance race, the one constant we had was the consistency and reliability of the Pirelli tires. We had no problems with the tires at all."

Cosmo and the team have also tested extensively during the three-month break between the opening Rolex Series races.

"We did a lot of testing since Daytona and put a lot of miles on tracks like Roebling Road (Georgia) and at Homestead-Miami," Cosmo said. "Roebling Road is particularly tough on tires but we had no issues with the Pirellis. With the progress we have made with this whole package so far, we think we are going to be running strong at VIR, and the Pirellis are all part of that mix. We are looking at running in the top 10 and maybe even challenging for a podium."

Spirit of Daytona Racing Enters Bosch Engineering 250 at VIR

(Daytona Beach, FL) 14 April 09 – The Spirit of Daytona Racing No. 09 Porsche V8-powered Coyote will be back in action this month, as the team has entered the Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway with drivers Guy Cosmo and Scott Russell slated to share the driving duties on April 23-25 for round 2 of the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series championship.

After rebounding from a brief pit fire and making it to the finish with a roster of champions in Jason Pridmore, Jeff Ward, Russell, and Cosmo in the 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona, Spirit of Daytona is now ready for the “second half” of the Rolex Sports Car Series Season. Spirit of Daytona Racing has been working non-stop since the checkered flag of the 24 to be fully prepared for the select schedule the team will run in 2009. The team has continued to develop the Coyote chassis, and is hoping to put the lessons learned on the high banks of the home track in Daytona to good use as the Rolex Sports Car Series hits the natural terrain circuit in Virginia.

The Coyote, teamed with the Porsche V8 powerplant, hasn’t been sitting still since the 24, as the team also took part in the late-March Rolex Series open test at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The track was one where the Coyote-Porsche V8 showed well in 2008, as Cosmo qualified and ran in the lead pack for much of the race. The March test provided some encouraging results, and almost more importantly, some great new data to work with as the team readies for the season-finale championship event at Homestead as well as the upcoming rounds at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Watkins Glen.

While the Homestead outing was encouraging, team owner Troy Flis knows that there are still a lot of lessons to be learned for the Coyote.

“We were really happy with how quick we were at Homestead and with how well the car managed tire wear, but we aren’t kidding ourselves at all, because we know we are up against cars with thousands of miles of testing and racing behind them,” said Flis. “But it was very encouraging for us to be setting times that were as competitive as they were. Everyone on the team has been working non-stop, so it was great to not only have a lot of test time thanks to good reliability, but to come out of there with some good ideas for the next time out so we are really looking forward to VIR.”

Another challenge the team will be targeting is the fact that one half of the driver line up, Scott Russell, has only seen half of the track, on a machine that had only half the wheel count as the Coyote in his championship days on motorcycles.

“I’ve run half of VIR in a test session with Ducati the year I got hurt – I’ve not run the second half of that course,” said Russell. “I’m trying to find a way to get over there and get to run a few laps before we get there. Thank God for Guy Cosmo. He’s a development driver as well as a mentor for me. He’s the man, and he’s helped me a lot. It’s a great opportunity just to be out here, and to be involved in something that’s a development is kind of cool, really. They’ve made the car a lot more comfortable to drive. We’re not expected to win the championship, that kind of thing. But I think we can get on the podium this year, for sure.”

Cosmo, who has started from pole at VIR in Daytona Prototype competition, knows that the twisty Virginia circuit is a tough one for first-timers to take on, but is confident not only in his co-driver Russell, but also in the progress the team has already made with the new Coyote.

“I couldn’t believe how well it went for us at Homestead and I just want us to be able to keep making that kind of progress once we get back to the track at VIR,” said Cosmo. “I know Scott will have to learn his way around the track but he’s picked it up quickly everywhere else we’ve run, hitting his marks like a champion and just getting more and more comfortable with what he can do in the car. I just can’t wait to get back to it at VIR and keep improving because we all feel like there is some real potential in this package.”

The Bosch Engineering 250 will air on SPEED TV at 2:30 PM ET on April 25.

Coyote Has Successful Test

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 23, 2009) - Coming off an 11th-place finish in the Daytona Prototype class in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Spirit of Daytona Racing is continuing to work on the No. 09 Porsche Coyote in preparation for the next event on the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 schedule, the April 25 Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway.

Guy Cosmo recently tested for the team at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, Ga., and will join motorcycle legend Scott Russell Tuesday and Wednesday at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the special Rolex Series testing. The Spirit of Daytona car - sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America in the Rolex 24 - is the lone Coyote currently running in the Rolex Series.

"Savannah was fantastic," Cosmo said. "Troy Flis and the Spirit of Daytona guys have been making a lot of changes to that Coyote. We started late last year running the new version bodywork that Eddie Cheever had designed for it, and we're trying to learn the package and make some headway with it."

The team has been testing the car it raced in 2007 with new Coyote bodywork. The team plans to run the new bodywork on the updated Coyote chassis it raced at the Rolex 24, where Cosmo and Russell were joined by motorcycle racers Jeff Ward and Jason Pridmore.

"The test went real well," Cosmo said. "We were quicker than we've ever gone at that test, and we learned a lot of real good information that will help us out. We plan to have the bodywork and aero side sorted out when we run the updated chassis, so all that information can apply directly to the car. We're real excited about the upcoming race at VIR."

Spirit of Daytona Racing Endures to Finish Rolex 24 At Daytona

Daytona Beach, FL 25 January 09 – The Spirit of Daytona Racing No. 09 Porsche V8-powered Coyote overcame several setbacks over the course of 24 hours of hard racing in the 47th Rolex 24 At Daytona before racing to the finish with the Boy Scouts of America-livered machine. The team completed 649 laps to finish 11th in the Daytona Prototype class with motorcycle champions Jeff Ward, Scott Russell, and Jason Pridmore sharing the driving duties with Spirit of Daytona Racing pilot Guy Cosmo.

The race marked the first round of the 2009 Rolex Sports Car Series as the team continued to move the development curve forward for the Coyote chassis teamed with Porsche V8 power.

Starting the race from the seventh row, the team was dealt its first bad hand in the early laps, as the electrical charge dropped, forcing the drivers to race in the high cockpit temperatures without the benefit of helmet blowers or coolers as all non-essential electrical systems were switched off to conserve power over the long run.

Before the race passed the first hour mark, the challenge got even bigger after the clutch went, only to then be followed up by a throttle cable issue that also slowed the team’s progress. But the team continued on undeterred, focused on bringing team partner Boy Scouts of America a finish in their first Rolex 24 together.

Despite the race being the first Rolex 24 appearance for Pridmore and Russell—Ward made a start in the 1997 Rolex event—the motorcycle champions continued to show a quick adaptation to running on the high banks on four wheels rather than two, keeping the car moving at a quick clip over and over on the 3.56-mile infield road course.

The team continued to press on through the night and into the long Sunday race day. As the field thinned from attrition while the team established a strong rhythm and moved up the charts, there was one final set back as a fuel line broke and caused a small fire in the pits as Cosmo came in to turn the car over to Russell. Quick work in the pits by the team and fire marshals saw both Cosmo and Russell out of the car unscathed. After taking the No. 09 behind the wall for the first time after over 22 hours of racing, the team found the problem, fixed it, and sent the machine back out to race to the finish.

Appropriately enough, “Mr. Daytona” Scott Russell took the machine across the finish line for the 649th time to accept the checkered flag just after 3:30 PM ET local time.

“I couldn’t believe that they could get the car fixed after the fire and back out on the track,” said Russell. “There have been a couple of times that I had to pinch myself that this whole experience is really happening. The team has been great. It’s amazing to get through the adversity that we did, that the whole team fought back all they way to get to the finish. This Coyote did its job and I know the team is looking forward to getting the new one soon and starting that development process. This was a fatiguing race, but I had a blast and would love to do it again. It was great to have Guy driving with us because I’m not sure what we’d have done if he wasn’t with us. It was a long day! Hopefully I’ll get a chance to race again as soon as (Rolex next race) VIR.”

“This was a great opportunity to race in this Rolex 24 after watching it for so many years and just wanting so badly to race in it myself so it’s great for us to get to the finish today,” said Pridmore. “To be fair, we certainly had our share of problems in this race but the team never gave up and never stopped fighting. It’s a big challenge for us to jump into this sandbox like this, but I think we just kept getting closer and closer and we’ d made a lot of progress before the fire. You always want to finish on top, but this was our first time out. I’d love to do this again.”

“There was a lot of rubber and junk out there on the track in my last stint, but the car was pretty much consistent throughout,” said Ward. “I got a lot more time in the car in this race than when I was here in 1997 because even though we had some set backs, the car just kept running, all through the night. This is a great group of guys to work with and I want to do more races like this, but it’d be great to get more time testing and getting ready but if there was a chance, I’d really like to do more. The seat wasn’t perfect, so I’m going to be sore and tired tomorrow, but this was a tough race!”

“It is an amazing feat for us to finish this race, with the guys doing this for the first time and all the problems we had to overcome to get to the end is just amazing to me,” said Cosmo. “But all the guys did great. It was a grueling race, and I think we are all feeling beat up and cramped up, but I think this was a good chance for us to work with some fantastic champions and to also keep the process of learning this new Coyote bodywork going . I’m happy that the fire didn’t cause any injuries and that we were able to get back out and keep going to have Scotty take it over the finish line.”

“We put a pretty big challenge in front of ourselves to have the motorcycle guys taking this on for the first time after we just got this bodywork a month ago. So I think we have to be happy to come out of this with a lot of data and another finish in the Rolex 24 as well,” said Team Owner Troy Flis. “This was a great opportunity to work with some really cool people, and we’re all counting our blessings to get to do that. I’m just looking forward to getting the new car and to hopefully having the chance to go to VIR with a car that we’re already familiar with inside and out.”
