The ModSpace American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón
Guy Cosmo and the No. 02 Extreme Speed Motorsports Tequila Patron Ferrari 458GT are packed up and headed to the Monterey Peninsula and the storied Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for this weekend's ModSpace American Le Mans Monterey Presented by Tequila Patron.
The ModSpace Monterey is an event looked forward to by teams and fans alike. The Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has played host to world-class sports car racing for more than 50 years. And if six hours into the darkness doesn't get your attention, one of the most challenging single corners on the season, the downhill CorkscrewTurn, will.
"I'm psyched!" exclaimed Guy Cosmo. "Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and six hours of racing… if this isn't a good combination for us, I don't know what is!"
Cosmo's enthusiasm for Mazda Raceway is echoed by every driver. It's a race track with all the hills and turns a natural terrain track can throw at you. Add in the elements of a 6 hour endurance race and a little dash of darkness… you've got yourself pure motorsports drama.
"I love Laguna," added Cosmo. "It's one of the greatest race tracks on the planet and I enjoy coming here year after year. I've had my share of success here as well. Hopefully that will continue this weekend. The Patron ESM crew have worked tirelessly to rebound from some of the issues we've had lately. We've prepared for this race as best as we can."
No doubt, if the Series handed out a hard luck award, through no fault of their own, the ESM boys would be on top of the podium.
"No one ever said racing was easy," said Guy. "Our season has been a testament to that. But, perseverance is the key to realizing success and that's what we are doing. It doesn't matter what they throw at us, we know our cars are good, our team is good and our drivers are good. The results will come when all the pieces fit and things come together at the same time. Hopefully that time will be this weekend."
The ModSpace American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón will go green Sept. 16 at 1:30 PM (PT). The race will air on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 17 and be carried live on ESPN3 beginning at 12:50 PM.

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón is the world`s leading sports car championship and is recognized as the Global Leader in Green Racing. In the tradition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, multiple classes of cars - purpose-built prototypes and production-based Grand Touring automobiles - race on the track at the same time to create compelling race action and constant passing. All cars in the Series compete using one of five approved alternative fuels or energy sources: clean sulfur-free diesel, cellulosic E85 or E10, Isobutanol and electric hybrid technologies. The Series has more automobile marques involved than any other major race series in the world as manufacturers develop relevant technologies on track that transfer directly to the customer showroom. The ALMS competes at North America`s premier road racing tracks and selected temporary street circuits in major urban markets.
